Rod McCullom in Rod On Line reports:
An editorial in tomorrow's Chicago Sun-Times slams the disgraced governor for taking his case to the talk show circuit.
Your impassioned speech before the Senate on Thursday was only the latest exhibit of your failure. You could have sworn an oath, testified before the Senate and answered questions—the kind of questions the people of Illinois want to ask you.
Instead, you gave us more of the same, a variation of what you told Barbara and Diane, Campbell and Rachel. Except you spent more time with them than you did with the Senate, the representatives of the people.
Thanks for fitting us in.

President Barack Obama issued a statement on the unanimous vote the Illinois state senate earlier today to impeach Gov. Rod Balojevich.
The vote ousted Blagojevich from office and replaced him with Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn.
“Today ends a painful episode for Illinois,’’ stated Obama. “For months, the state had been crippled by a crisis of leadrship, Now that cloud has lifted. I wish Gov. Quinn the best and pledge my full cooperation as he undertakes his new responsibilities.’‘

The Illinois Senate voted to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office Thursday, marking the first time in the state’s long history of political corruption that a chief executive has been impeached and convicted.

Subject: I Love My Job
If you don't laugh out loud after you read this you are in a coma! This is even funnier when you realize it's real! Next time you have a bad day at work think of this guy. Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 on FM dial in Ft. Wayne, Indiana , who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she won.
~~Hi Sue,
Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the
Water is quite cool. So, what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial
water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose. Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi. Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few seconds my ass started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick
to it, however, the crack of my ass was not as fortunate. When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my ass. I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically. Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totalling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't sh1+ for two days because my ass was swollen shut.
So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your ass. Now repeat to yourself, 'I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.' Whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?
May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!!!!!

Executive news covers the people and companies that make news around Washington, DC. In the blog JD Kathuria covers twitter, widgets and Wordpress. Be idea was a request for the interconnectivity of widgets. Another: “I’d like to see an evolution of blogs as the next step for us. We use WordPress blogs as our platform in the federal government. Everybody is blogging and sharing information, which is great. Now we want to take it to the next level with smarter blogs. We want to bring in more plug-ins and other complimentary technologies to increase the value of our blog posts. It would also make the information easier to find. We’re always looking for better technologies to increase the findability of information that we’ve already been creating.”

Mathew Ingram writes an excellent piece on twitter for journalists and researchers. We know that twitter has done a great job than official emergency information networks or the traditional media during disasters. For tracking these developing stories Tweetdeck. Here is a quote from the piece: “Those are far from the only Twitter tools out there — in fact, Twitter has created an entire ecosystem of tools that add features to and expand the utility of the service. There’s a good list of some other tools for journalists here, and Gina Chen of Save The Media has some other tips on how journalists can use Twitter and ways to get started. Robert Niles at OJR has some thoughts as well, and the Columbia Journalism School recently did a podcast all about using Twitter for news.”
See: http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/datran-media-announces-third-annual-marketing-survey-results,693658.shtml
Results of the third annual survey of online marketing professionals, conducted in December 2008, by Datran “Overall, email, search and display continue to pace far ahead of offline media, direct mail and mobile as the strongest performing advertising channels. Email secured the number one rank by more than 80 percent of marketers. Correspondingly, marketers revealed that available budgets will be allocated towards email, search and display, while they are anticipating at-pace or reduced spending across offline advertising and direct mail. The one inconsistency in budget allocation responses was the percentage increase in social media budget plans. While inconsistent with present performance responses to the first survey question, the growth expectations are in line with analyst predictions and market forecasts that social media advertising will continue to grow as the model matures. According to a recent report by eMarketer, marketers still need to be where their customers are, and consumers remain heavily involved in social networks.
New customer acquisition and increased customer retention far outrank increasing brand awareness and brand favorability for 2009. Not surprisingly, in order of importance, marketers will reportedly focus on CRM tactics like newsletters while they also employ behavioral targeting, list growth, ad inventory monetization and affiliate marketing strategies.”
